FAMOUS FAMILY RECIPE SERIES
RECIPE # 13 NAVY BEANS AND HAM HOCKS
This flavorful recipe is sure to delight everyone and tame hunger. There are several fancy-dancy recipes for Navy Beans and Ham Hocks but we are going with this simple Famous Family Recipe.
Ingredients:
1 Pound Dry Navy beans
2-4 Ham Hocks depending on size (Smoked Ham Hocks give a rich flavor)
Sprinkle of Garlic Granules (optional)
Salt and Pepper
Directions:
First, soak the beans for at least 8 hours or overnight. Drain and pour into a Dutch oven and cover with water and bring to a boil. Boil for a few minutes then remove from heat and place lid on top. Let sit for 2 hours and drain soaking liquid.
Next, In the Dutch oven cover the beans with 2 inches of water. Add the Ham Hocks, garlic granules and Salt and Pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer. Cook for at least 2 hours.
Serve with Cornbread. Maybe some Green Salad.
