FAMILY BY BLOOD
Family is strong word…especially if the family is strong. But family can mean more if it is more.
G. Michael Hopf, author, wrote, “Family is a bigger word than, say, your biological parents or siblings. It’s those people who will do anything for you, who are there for you and you for them. They are the ones who choose to be in your life and aren’t obligated by blood.”
He is speaking obviously of someone who is ‘family’ to us though they are not physical family by blood. I would add that they are the ones who are more than friends… they are family by function and love.
However, there is a family we may belong to that is obligated by blood. Not our blood, but the blood of Jesus. That blood makes us all brothers and sisters…of the same family. One family.
“And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the (new) covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.” Jesus
