ELDER ABUSE

I have read several articles on the abuse of elderly people. This happens when a senior person is taken advantage of by others and often when designated caregivers abuse them. Well, I had no reference for this until an elderly neighbor recently confided to me what had happened.

As was told to me, a well-meaning person who was caring for this elderly person in our close-by neighborhood was recorded as bringing this elderly neighbor of ours a Tuna Salad Sandwich with Potato Chips and two Carrot Sticks. This is perhaps one of the most serious abuse issues I have heard of to an unassuming elderly person. Here they are… watching a rerun of Judge Judy from 2009 and someone brings this ‘Meal of Misdemeanor’ to the front door. Without any thought the poor elderly person opened this meal box not knowing what to expect and then she realized this was a meal of Dead Fish processed to the forty-third degree and nestled in mayonnaise and pickles and other stuff and put between two pieces of bread with chopped up items and called a sandwich. This is cruelty if not criminal. It seems one might as well be poisoned with a stronger and more deadly intake.

I have read of other Elder Abuse issues…but none are as serious as a Tuna Salad Sandwich. This is negligence and without excuse.
