EGGS AND BASKETS
‘Why would I have multiple baskets when all my eggs fit into one?’ (Blog quote) That’s pretty funny.
‘The phrase “put all your eggs in one basket” is an idiom that means to risk everything on a single person, plan, idea, product, or venture. It can also mean to put all of one’s effort or resources into doing one thing, so that if it fails, there are no alternatives left.’ (Google search)
Solomon advised, “Divide your investments among many places, (most versions say “seven or eight places”) for you do not know what risks might lie ahead.” (Ecclesiastes 11:2) Or, don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
But, this is exactly what Jesus asked us to do. Give him all our eggs in one basket. Perhaps one of our issues is that we have kept back some spare baskets… just in case… or saved back some eggs…or both.
I’m headed over to the other side of the Pond for some Cuban Coffee and Roz’s Egg Custard Pie. I have cut back on eating this pie to only about a half of a pie these days. The pie slides down like Mac and Cheese… but easier. It’s just good to have some discipline in this sort of thing.
