HERE’S THE CHURCH

When I was a kid we were taught a simple little hand exercise of lacing our fingers together, fingers down, and then raising our little fingers to make a steeple and then opening our hands by turning them palm side up with all our fingers sticking up while saying,

“Here’s the church,
Here’s the steeple,
Open the door, and
See all the people.”

I think from that time on… a distorted picture of the church set in on my mind. It took about twenty years to get that picture (and several others) out of my thinking and replaced with biblical truth of a community of faith.
