DESTROY THE DEMONS DAY
There is a strange story of Jesus in the country of the Gaderenes (a Gentile city across from Galiee on the other side of the Sea of Galilee). Jesus is confronted by two violent demoniac men who live in the tombs of the city (Matthew 8). The demons are known as Legion meaning many or a large group of demons in the two men. In military terms it is three to six thousand troops. The demons plead with Jesus as he casts them out of them to be sent into a herd of pigs nearby (two thousand pigs). They enter the pigs and the pigs run over a cliff and into the sea and are destroyed. The pig farmers are very upset and ask Jesus to leave town.
This is a tough story to interupt or understand in my view. But I do think in our time there is a need for a large group of common and familiar demons to go over some cultural cliff… to destruction and annihilation. Not into poor little pigs perhaps… but maybe in biodegradable garbage bags so everything will be gone, done and dissappear when they hit the bottom. Hopefully there will be no repercussions of littering or pollution. Demons need to be told to go to hell where they belong. (Matthew 8, Luke 8, Mark 5)
We could celebrate the Destroy the Demons Day.
Start today to toss the Halloween demons of tomorrow.
