COUNSELING
Three Questions for counseling:
1. What is the problem/issue?
2. What does the Bible say about it?
3. What are you going to do about it?
I can’t remember for sure who said this but I think it was Jimmy Swaggart. I have never been much of a counselor. However, I will give an opinion on about anything if I am asked…including this Counseling Subject.
What is the Problem/Issue? This is a first and fair question that must be answered as honestly as possible in all counseling situations.
Then, what does the Scripture teach about this Problem/issue? The Bible will address almost any issue if we allow it to do so… even without ‘stuffing the Bible down some throat’ application.
What are you going to do about it? If we are not serious here we are not serious anywhere. If a person does not intend to do something about the problem…I don’t intend to spend any more time on it either.
It is right here that I try my best to stay the course and give counsel or tell someone to take a hike…you’re not into this thing. Besides… I am busy trying to raise some Cauliflower in our raised box out back.
This is also why I am not a Counselor. I am headed over to the other side of the pond for Cuban Coffee and to sit quietly and try to think of some good counseling advice for others and myself. Too bad…guess I will just have the Cuban Coffee.
