CORNELIUS THE GENTILE #2
Peter preached the true gospel, which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ to the household of Cornelius. “Then while Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. And all the circumcised believers (Jewish Christians) who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit has been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, “Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have (already) received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he? And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.”
The gospel then and the gospel now is for anyone who will hear, repent of their sins and obey Christ the King. The gospel then and the gospel now should include signs and wonders, speaking in tongues and exalting God. Nothing has changed since then except us. Without the power of God at conversion we are converted without power. “Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have (already) received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”
“And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.” Jesus
