CITY ON A HILLTOP
I recently heard this word: ‘A city on top of a hill cannot be hidden… stop creeping around and checking the light and analyzing the flame… let your light shine. Being overly cautious causes the light to be dimmed.’
The verse that was being referenced was this:
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16) I just simply said, ‘Lord, I want to be a city set on a hill. I desire to be a light in the world shining brightly… so others will give you glory.’ Then this song came to my mind:
‘Lord, the light of your love is shining
In the midst of the darkness, shining
Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us
Set us free by the truth you now bring us
Shine on me, shine on me
Shine, Jesus, shine
Fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze
Set our hearts on fire
Flow, river, flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth your word
Lord, and let there be light’

By means of your light we see light.” (Psalm 36:9)
