CHOOSING LIFE AND LIGHT

Only the Holy Spirit and His gifts can cause us to choose the way of “going into all the world” with the gospel. But we have no business in ‘going’ anywhere until we have encountered and chosen the Life and Light of Jesus. If we ‘go’ before this choice is made we will take our systems, institutions, organizations, religion, petty doctrines and our own un-regenerated hearts and leave Jesus behind.

We are left, like Peter, to eliminate choices until we can say, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have believed and come to know that you are the Holy One of God.” There are two steps to this confession and understanding: (1) we have come to believe. That’s always first even though continual. We have believed and are continuing to believe (2) we have come to know. We know but we keep on knowing and gaining agreement and conclusion. The Holy Spirit is given to make this possible.
