CASINO THEOLOGY
Casino Theology is very similar to Lottery Theology. The psychological trigger for both is: There is a chance I could hit it big! The difference is that with Casino Theology a person stays and keeps on playing the odds… one more roll… one more pull… one more bet… instead of an occasional ticket purchase. Either way, the idea is: One could hit it big!
There are hundreds, yea, thousands of multi-million dollar Casino-Hotel-Resort-Vacation Facilities built from the profits of those who took a chance to hit it big. The Casino seems to always hit it bigger than the individual.
The idea is to gamble. “Gambling is the wagering something of value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the intent of winning something else of value. Gambling thus requires three elements to be present: consideration, risk, and a prize.” (Wikipedia) That is perfect definition. Casino Theology is the same way our minds and emotions may process the message of Jesus and his Kingdom: ‘consideration, risk and prize.’ As long as the Lord is a gamble we will be insecure, uncertain and trying to hit it big.
Love is not a gamble; it is a guarantee.
“The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.” Jesus
