CARE AND COMPASSION
I find that the two rather difficult things to do is to purely care and to purely have compassion. Many times I think my caring and compassion are not as pure as they should be. That only means that perhaps my motives were from some kind of expected behavior rather than Kingdom behavior. It reminded me of a quote from Brené Brown, professor and author:
“To love someone fiercely, to believe in something with your whole heart, to celebrate a fleeting moment in time, to fully engage in a life that doesn’t come with guarantees – these are risks that involve vulnerability and often pain. But, I’m learning that recognizing and leaning into the discomfort of vulnerability teaches us how to live with joy, gratitude and grace.”
(From ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’)
I think ‘leaning into the discomfort of vulnerability’ will be something we are always learning. Lord, show us the way to lean in with purity of intent and mind.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Jesus
