BONE CHEWING
Watching a common house dog licking, chewing, gnawing and carefully protecting a bone from intruders and even from the person who provided the bone… made me wonder how many generations there might be between the dog and the man, or between man and God. What made me wonder was reading the national news and the religious news. Everyone seems to be licking, chewing, gnawing and carefully protecting his or her bone.
I see little difference between the dog and the bone and the dogmatism of politics and religion. (Dogmatism: the tendency to lay down principles as incontrovertibly true, without consideration of evidence or the opinions of others.) Or, it is the expression of an opinion or belief as if it were a fact. This gets real scary when we decide to bury our bone and hide it from others and highly protect it…even from the one who provided it.
It appears it’s a dog-eat-dog world out there…
