BELONGING TO CHRIST
Everyone who belongs to Christ belongs to everyone who belongs to Christ. The apostle Paul called it a body, “just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” Whoever belongs to Christ is part of the body. Paul continues, “But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be?”
It is sometimes pretty tough trying to believe that God has placed all the parts correctly. If it were up to me, I know I would change things around a good bit. I would probably even decide who belongs and who doesn’t. When this kind of sorting and judging takes place it is obvious that what I want the body to look like is me. Now that is really a scary thought.
“As it is, there are many parts, but one body.” Like it or not… that’s the way it is.
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” Jesus
