BECOMING SALT AND LIGHT

“You are the salt of the earth.” (Matthew 5:13)
How do we become salt?
When we flavor and season our world with the Gospel of the Kingdom.

“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.” (Matthew 5:13)
How do build a city on hill?
When we allow the light of Jesus to overcome and destroy darkness… light is stronger than darkness.

“But if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything but is thrown out and trampled under foot.” (5:13)

“People do not light a lamp and put it under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.” (5:14)

If we stay full of Salt and full of Light… “others may see our good works and give glory to our Father in heaven.” (5:16) A little good Salt seasons a large amount and a small good Light dispels a large amount of darkness.

“Is a lamp to be put under a pail or under a bed? Should it not be put on a lamp-stand? Everything that is hidden will be brought into the light. Everything that is a secret will be made known. You have ears, then listen!” Jesus
