BECOMING GOD’S CHILDREN
The regenerated person is a child of God. Regeneration means to be born from above by the Spirit of God (John 3). The implications of this are staggering. “But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12).
By faith we become children. God is the Giver of life. Life is in His Son. This process is one of adoption: “that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying Abba! Father!”
(Galatians 4:6).
Some of you may have had a really dysfunctional father or mother and for this I am so sorry. A true restoration for this brokenness, pain and disappointment is to try and trust and believe in a Heavenly Father that is kind, pure, loving, faithful and trustworthy. This Father (who is just like Jesus) wants to adopt us as his own special children. It is difficult to believe…but it is true. He wants more kids all the time. He wants kids that look just like you and me.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Jesus
