BEAUTY, GOODNESS AND TRUTH

Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905 -1988) was a Swiss theologian and Catholic priest and believed that “the best evangelistic strategy is to capture people with the beautiful, then enchant them with the good, and then lead them to the true.”

Over the course of his life, he authored eighty-five books, over five hundred articles and essays, and almost a hundred translations. He is known for his fifteen-volume trilogy on beauty (The Glory of the Lord), goodness (Theo-Drama), and truth (Theo-Logic).

I have not read this trilogy but before knowing this author I too came to the same conclusion that these three: beauty, goodness and truth are the substance of the Kingdom message of Jesus. I too have written many things and taught many times on these three subjects. I also believe that the above method is the best evangelistic strategy.
