BE A BIBLE
This simple and clear statement came to me recently: “Be a Bible. Don’t just read a Bible.”
I know this most probably came from my years of concern that I might know some of the contents of the Bible, or may to able to quote the Bible and quickly reference the Bible or research the original languages and content of the Bible… and yet not live, display and exhibit the behavior of a Bible believing follower of Jesus. It is still my concern.
So to ‘Be a Bible’ is to seriously take the message and examples of Jesus from a textual reality as we read and receive them from the Holy Spirit and to reproduce them into a living reality in daily life and practice. Jesus was very diligent to show us by example how scripture is to be lived and practiced daily and in an uncomplicated and honest way among others in our society. Or, how to Be a Bible. Who cares if we can quote it if we don’t seriously and intentionally try to live it.
“But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” Jesus
