‘BARCODES
‘A barcode or bar code is a method of representing data in a visual, machine-readable form. Initially, barcodes represented data by varying the widths, spacing and sizes of parallel lines. These barcodes, now commonly referred to as linear or one-dimensional (1D), can be scanned by special optical scanners, called barcode readers.’ (Wikipedia)
There is another Barcode that also comes to my mind:
‘Pop a Top Again’
Pop a top again
I think I’ll have another round
Set ’em up, my friend
Then I’ll be gone
And you can let some other fool sit down
Home for me is misery
And here I am, wasting time
‘Cause a row of fools on a row of stools
Is not what’s on my mind
But then you see her leaving me
It’s not what I prefer
So it’s either here, just drinking beer
Or home, remembering her
(Songwriter: Nat Stuckey made famous by Jim Ed Brown and Alan Jackson)
One Barcode is very useful and the other is ‘a row of fools on a row of stools.’ This is just what I was thinking having Cuban Coffee and Raspberry Turnovers over at the other side of the Pond. Then it hit me: a third Barcode is the code of a bunch of lawyers acting stuffy and important while tipping their head to the left to listen and to the right to speak.
“The things I teach are not my own, but they come from him who sent me. If people choose to do what God wants, they will know that my teaching comes from God and not from me. Those who teach their own ideas are trying to get honor for themselves. But those who try to bring honor to the one who sent them speak the truth, and there is nothing false in them.” Jesus
