AUTHENTICITY AND GIVING
Authenticity may be an overused word in some instances, however when it comes to giving it is a defining factor. Godly authenticity is based in humility. Giving comes out of our humility. Givers have humility. Non-givers are less broken as individuals and what appears as humility is often simply wounding and a closed-down heart.
True humility is a sure sign of the Holy Spirit’s operation in a person. It appears in the desire to be corrected, the avoidance of self-focus, change from presented objective evidence (verses some form of being a privileged channel for the Holy Spirit). Humility is also willingness to be sent on both yours and another’s mission. To this level of humility is the level of the giving. The proud live in the mind of others and the humble live in the mind of God. Giving comes out of our mind and our spirit. Giving without humility is out of guilt, obligation, law, shame, pride or a religious spirit. Giving with humility is not allowing our left hand to know what out right hand is doing.
“But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Jesus
