Carlo Carretto (1910-1988) wrote, “Whatever Christ does as a man in the Gospels, it is as if God were doing it in heaven. What Jesus says in the Gospels is what he had heard the Father say in heaven. The Gospel is the way in which we can live here on earth as the saints would live in heaven. The Gospel is everything. It is the unique model; it is invisible perfection made visible in Christ’s manner of life. For a Christian there should be no other book from which to draw inspiration, no other model to imitate. The Gospel is a living person: Jesus Christ.”
