FAITH AND FAKE
When people are afraid or concerned they often demonstrate some kind of superstitious expression like finger crossing combined with a clasped hands gesture of prayer or pointing a finger up to the sky… and making a Sign of the Cross. This is almost like astrology or consulting a Daily Horoscope, if not witchcraft. Hocus-Pocus… it is the mixture of reality/faith/myth and superstition.
This is no different than carrying ‘my lucky coin’ or ‘my good-luck charm’ or a picture of my ‘dear old mother’ or a ‘four leaved clover’ or a ‘picture of Jesus’ (those are hard to come by) and expecting a different result or outcome in some situation. Or, like wearing my ‘lucky red shirt’ or my ‘Grandpa’s boots.’ Whatever.
In Jeremiah 32:27 God says, “I am the Lord, the God of every person on the earth, nothing is impossible for me.” To rely on Horoscopes, magic and superstition is really unbelief. It is fake instead of faith… or a combination of both. The answer is not, “Hey, whatever works.” It is faith plus nothing.
Brothers and Sisters…we must get rid of all Fake security and witchcraft. Submit to the loving arms of Jesus and his acceptance and forgiveness. He will help us conquer, build, defeat and overflow with power and truth and strength. This other stuff is man-made nonsense.
I am headed over to the other side of pond (not to wear my lucky hat) but to have some Cuban Coffee, Molasses Cookies and not touch any beads, crosses, Olive Wood from Gethsemane, Water from the Jordan River, Sand from Israel, or Wood from Noah’s Ark or anything else… just Coffee and Cookies.
“Be gone, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.” Jesus
