A NEW SONG
The new song is mentioned many times in the Bible, but an interesting thing to note is the reference in Psalm 40:3, “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.” Not only is the new song an amazing thing and an amazing gift, but God also puts it in our mouth. It is not something we produce, but is rather a gift, another gift from the Giver. The key is in verse 1, “I waited patiently for the Lord,” and then the benefits, “He turned to me, he heard my cry, he brought me out of the pit, He set my feet upon a rock and He put a new song in my mouth.”
We sing, but it is more than we, the loving God sings within us. A new song is fresh and adapted to the occasion… a song of the Spirit.
The apostle John wrote of a heavenly scene, “And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
Priests of the Kingdom sing a New Song.
“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” Jesus
