MESSAGE CONTENT

As Christians we tell many stories of hope, grace, love, kindness, giving and such. The scriptures and life have given us much to tell. Though our stories differ, we each have our own story to tell.

In our teaching and encouragement to each other and the broader base of relationships outside our inner circles, we should make sure that in all our story telling we tell this one: the Great Story of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ the King. When these three things are part of our story and are told with confidence, they will burn in our hearts and in the hearts of others. When they are no longer part of our story we are left with sentimental stories, religious mush, potlucks, and Christian paraphernalia as the content of our message. These are not our story and no one believes them to be (I hope). Without the story of the Lord, there is no content in our message.

Even those without much spiritual discernment have enough to know when our story sounds and smells like religion instead of like Jesus.
