WORSHIP BANQUET II
In yesterday’s Journal entry I mentioned: Recently in the night I heard this word: ‘Worship like it is a Banquet.’ As I started to process this word, the Parable of the of the Great Banquet in Luke 14 came to mind. Also, the text from Song of Solomon as he speaks of his love for his first wife, the Shulamite woman (no name given) (6:13). Solomon appears to truly love this woman as he mentions her again in Proverbs 5:15-20 and Ecclesiastes 9:9. The Shulamite says:
“He brought me to the banqueting house,
And his banner over me was love.” (Song of Solomon 2:4)
The Banqueting House is literally ‘the house of wine’ (not the house of vines, some versions). It was Solomon’s private banqueting house and tables for feasts, wine and parties. A place where he royally entertained his friends. Thus, the banner that was over her was a royal military banner to protect her with his greatest love.
Banqueting Worship is getting exciting now as we see the most royal One of all, Jesus Christ, with his banner of love over his Bride, the church, in full protection and provision. This banner of love is what is a threat to all the enemies of God.
We are the Shulamite woman to our Lover. The Baquet Worship is now.
As Jesus taught us in Luke 14:
“Come the banquet is ready” (14:17).
“There is still room for more” (14:22).
“…urge anyone you find to come, so that my house will be full” (14:23).
“There is still room for more.” Jesus
