BOLD ENJOYMENT
After yesterday’s Journal entry on ‘die to self’ and making a willful choice to ‘die to self so we might live for Christ,’ it is also important to remember that does not mean we are now miserable and halted to fun, joy and having a good time. If that were so…count me out. That’s religion’s way, not the Kingdom way.
Ray Ortlund, pastor wrote: “But God’s strategy for wise living includes bold enjoyment. In fact, any “Christianity” that feels embarrassed about enjoying God’s good gifts dishonors him and leaves Christians with less to give their suffering world.” Very wisely said and even more wisely lived.
Solomon wrote:
Ecclesiastes 3:13
“And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.”
Ecclesiastes 5:18
“Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.”
Ecclesiastes 8:15
“So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 9:7
“So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!”
Bold Enjoyment… Kingdom living.
“I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” Jesus
