WAITING ALL DAY LONG
The Psalmist writes:
Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
Teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
For you are the God of my salvation;
For you I wait all the daylong.
(Psalm 25:4-5)
I like the idea of ‘help me know your ways, teach me your paths, lead me in your truth and you are my salvation.’ But the ‘I will wait for you all daylong’ is not my idea of a fun day. Waiting is not my best trait.
What throws me off on this is the ‘all daylong’ business. I become finger-tapping anxious waiting for a traffic light to change and super annoyed when my computer does not do a search in a one one-zillionth of second. Then I read ‘I will wait all daylong?’
Maybe this is why I do not hear, see and understand the Lord, as I would like… I cannot Google him in a fraction of a second with my issues and get my answers. I should pray for the Lord to teach me better waiting… but he just might do it. Yikes!
“I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But wait in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Jesus
