FIGHT UNTIL IT’S OVER II
In yesterday’s Journal entry I wrote about the three enemies that the Lord has conquered: the devil, death (fear of death), and sin. (Hebrews 2:14-18) John, an apostle, wrote: “Little children, let no one deceive you. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who commits (or practices) sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works” (1 John 3:7-8).
We are now responsible for fighting the same three enemies. Though defeated foes, they will fight us as long as we are alive. Just as the fight was on in Bible times, so in ours. These are the weapons of our warfare in Hebrews 2:
“So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose” (Hebrews 2:1-5).
Perhaps if we are getting our tails kicked it is because we are not using the weapons of “signs and wonders, miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit” accompanied by the fully dressed “armor of God soldier” of Ephesians 6:10-18. To fight with only having ‘right information’ and belonging to the ‘right group’ might get someone terribly injured or killed. Time to believe what the Lord said, gave and expected us to use to fight the good fight.
“To the one who conquers I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.” Jesus
