FINDING WHAT WE WANT
When Jesus appears and comes to John, he is instantly recognized by John. “The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples. As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!” When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus. Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them.
John the Baptist seeing Jesus, remarks to his disciples, “Look! There is the Lamb of God.” The same thing happens the next day and two of John’s disciples start following Jesus around to see what he is about. Jesus notices they are following him and turns and asks them, “What do you want?” Other versions say, “What are looking for?” Or, “Who are you seeking.” (John 1:38)
As the story continues, they decide ‘What they want.” Andrew tells his brother Cephas (Peter), We have found the Messiah.” We have found what we wanted.
That’s our question still… “What do we want?”
“Come and see. Follow me.” Jesus
