EVERY PART NEEDED
I am still considering some thoughts from yesterday’s Journal entry concerning every part of the Body is needed. This is really a very easy concept if a person has ever had a knee go bad, a heart not ticking correctly, kidneys with lesser function or a tire go flat, a fuel injector not working, or a battery goes dead. Whatever the metaphor…it takes all the parts to function properly.
“To use the New Testament analogy of the church as a body, it would be unthinkable for an injury to one part to go unnoticed by the whole: the defenses of the entire body are mustered. So too the sin of one person in a church will affect every member.” (Johann Christoph Arnold 1940-2017) pastor and author. (Plough)
I think little is thought about our body parts or Christ’s Body Parts when all is going well. That seems normal to me. To expect malfunction is often a malfunction. Every part is necessary for both bodies. But when a major part fails it will have greater consequences than a lessor part…say a lung failure to an ear failure, or a shepherd failure to a baby lamb failure.
“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” Jesus
