AS THINGS HAPPEN
Whether we are sad or happy, the birds sing, the cats meow and the dogs bark. The creeks flow, the peach trees bloom, and over one million Sandhill Cranes return to the Platte River in Nebraska every March.
Solomon wrote,
“The sun comes up, and the sun goes down,
and hurries to the place where it rises.
It moves to the south,
and then moves around to the north;
the wind continually travels around,
and it keeps turning on its circuit.
All the streams flow into the sea,
and the sea is never filled up.
And to the place where the streams flow,
there they continually return to flow.”
(Ecclesiastes 1:5-7)
There can be a certain level of Stoicism in our thinking by using the familiar phrase, ‘It is what it is’ or ‘Whatever will be, will be.’ Or, by making comparative statements like the above remarks.
They may all happen whether we are sad or happy but they happen much better and more easily when we are happy.
“I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” Jesus
