WATER TO WINE
Recently in the night I kept hearing: ‘Many of us need a Water to Wine miracle.’ This is reference to the Wedding at Cana in Galilee in John 2. The story is, “The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” (John 2:3) There were six large stone water jars and they filled them with water and Jesus asked them to dip some out “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” (John 2:8) He tasted it not knowing where it came from and called it the “best wine” and there was a great supply of wine for the guests. Jesus turned Water into Wine.
This was the first public miracle of Jesus (John 2:11).
The miracle is basically of ‘not having’ and then ‘having plenty.’ It appears many need this kind of miracle to have rent money where there is none, to have healing to a diseased part, to have a job instead being unemployed, to have relationship with a family member that is badly broken…so many things need a miracle. So many times we are so upside down that we need Water turned to Wine… from not having to having plenty. Even though many issues are the result of poor decisions, lousy planning and reckless spending and unkind words… we have a Father that wants to restore us through repentance and returning to him for mercy. Jesus is the Winemaker. We still need to fill the jars with water.
“Fill the jars with water.” Jesus
