ACCESS TO GOD’S KINGDOM
The Kingdom way goes back to the original way in my mind. So, the original Kingdom was The Garden of Eden. This was a created environment of a relational Father with his created offspring. The access to the Father was daily, normal, without shame or guilt and a life filled with provision, protection and peace. Sin and evil, through temptation and disobedience caused change to this original plan. The Kingdom continues through history in this way: any who wish to obey the Lord’s way and by faith allow the Father to have rule and reign in their life… can live as a Kingdom person.
Dallas Willard (1937-2013) philosopher and Christian writer said it well: “God did not start to bring his kingdom, the “kingdom of the heavens” as Jesus often called it, into existence through Jesus’ presence on earth. All too frequently it is suggested that he did. But Jesus’ own gospel of the kingdom was not that the kingdom was about to come, or had recently come, into existence. If we attend to what he actually said, it becomes clear that his gospel concerned only the new accessibility of the kingdom to humanity through himself.” (‘The Divine Conspiracy’)
Jesus makes it possible for us to be “born from above” and become new people with a “divine nature” and suited for Kingdom life. “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires” (2 Peter 1:3-4).
“Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus
