LIVING PROOF
I recently read a story about the much-admired quarterback of the Colorado Buffaloes Shedeur Sanders. After his senior year at Colorado the Cleveland Browns professional football team drafted him into their team in the National Football League. In an interview I read concerning his ability to perform at professional level he calmly said, “My job isn’t to prove people wrong, I prove myself right.”
Shedeur Sanders (Pronounced ‘shuh-DOOR’) is a remarkable player and has wisdom beyond his years. As I thought about his comment, it quickly struck me that we are to be disciples that are not out to prove people wrong…we are out to prove ourselves right. When others are upside down and twisted… our job is to display right side up and straight. We don’t need to bad-mouth doctrine and practices as much as we need to display what we think and believe. We don’t prove the other way wrong… we prove the Kingdom way right.
Words and ideas are often dead intellectual facts while our actions are living proof of what we believe. One is to just hear it and the other is to see it. The best is to hear and see it as living proof.
