FIGHT TIME…ALL THE TIME II
I am still thinking about ‘spiritual warfare’ from yesterday’s Journal entry. It appears to many that we are on a slippery slope without hope. The slipperiness might be determined by how one processes our rhythms, rhetoric and routines. There is often strong opinion based on political and religious preferences with or without much substantial inquiry. It becomes easy to ‘blame the other side’ for what’s going on in our world. Our fight becomes one of red or blue, rather than one of the integrity of scripture and truth against the devil and lies.
At a recent conference, Otis Moss III, a Chicago pastor said, “We did not arrive here by the election, we arrived here by the silence of the church.” At the same conference, Melva Sampson, professor and minister said, “We have to refuse to trade the thunder of the prophets for the hush of respectability.”
I think I see two fights: the first is ‘against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil spiritual forces in the heavens.’ (Ephesians 6:11-12)
The second is the fight to help each other repent and turn from false religion and legal obedience to the dynamic of transformed Spirit filled believers in Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of the Father.
It’s fight time…all the time.
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Jesus
