OUR REAL WORK
Wendell Berry, poet, writer and farmer wrote,
“It may be that when we no longer know what to do,
we have come to our real work
and when we no longer know which way to go,
we have begun our real journey.
The mind that is not baffled is not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings.”
(From ‘Standing By Words’)
Most of us know about false starts and surprise losses. So be it… the key is to not stay there. This is when we re-check, make a new plan, seek counsel, and use miscues as a new and better guide.
I just think that success often comes from previous unsuccessful attempts. Often ‘Our Real Work’ is to find out what works.
“Truly I tell you, anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the gate but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber.” Jesus
