THE RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND
“Do not fear,
for I am with you;
do not be afraid,
for I am your God.
I will strengthen you;
I will help you;
I will hold on to you
with my righteous right hand.”
(Isaiah 41:10)
This is one of proclamations that is easy to make when everything is going well, we are cruising, feeling good and have enough money to pay the rent, bought a couple of rib-eye steaks. But sometimes when things go South and we are trying to grab our tail with both hands and don’t know which way to go…this is a tough verse.
But, one of things that difficult times can do is wear us out. We may have tried everything to not be afraid, to grab the rope again, pull ourselves out of our pit of discouragement, and we are exhausted. After all our best efforts we finally turn to ‘the righteous right hand’ and ask for help from the One who said, “I will help you, I will hold on to you.” After getting softened up… we can say, ‘Help me, Lord, help me.’ We then hear, ‘I will, for I am your God.’ (41:10)
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” Jesus
