WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
In Acts of the Apostles 2 is the story of the giving of the Holy Spirit (2:1-12). Then Peter and the other eleven apostles were accused of being drunk. Standing with the eleven and denying this charge, Peter delivered the great Acts 2 sermon (2:14). After the forceful presentation we read:
“Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles,
“Brothers, what should we do?”
Peter replied, “Each of you
must repent of your sins
and turn to God,
and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins.
Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
This promise is to you, to your children,
and to those far away…” (2:38-39)
What should we do? The same thing Peter asked them to do. Nothing has changed and we are all part of ‘to those far away.’ There you have it.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus
