HIDING HEARTS
There are clever ways to hide our feelings, emotions, opinions and even our pain and wounding. A whole lot of what we know and think belongs to us and perhaps only to us. Other things we may benefit by sharing. There are many things we can hide from others but nothing is hidden from the Father. Even that can be a bummer if we view it as having no privacy, rather than protection. That is an unrealistic view of the Lord and of us. Paul, an apostle, wrote: “But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” (Romans 8:26-27) ‘The Father knows all hearts.’
So, perhaps as we hide from each other, we are not hiding from the Father who loves and cares about us and can see through our deepest shadows and light.
“The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
There is a time to stay private. But as we learn to care and love as sons and daughters of the Father, we are also to seek the Holy Spirit to be allowed to lift up ours and others hiding hearts, to be loved, accepted and forgiven by the Father. It’s the Kingdom way.
“You like to appear righteous in public, but God knows your hearts. What this world honors is detestable in the sight of God.” Jesus
