PURPOSE OF MEDITATION
Meditation is not mysterious; it is simply learning to pay attention. We pay attention by careful listening. What we are searching for in these quiet, normal, intentional times is ‘the presence’ of God. The purpose of meditation is ‘the presence’ alone before other benefits such as wisdom, knowledge, direction… etc. It is because the presence brings us joy, welcome, belonging and place with the Father.
I don’t necessarily think there is an order in meditation because the Lord may reveal or not reveal at his timing and not ours. If we hear nothing, see nothing, know nothing in our meditation time, but we have been in the presence of the Father just hanging out… what could be more amazing? The reason I believe this is so is because being in the atmosphere of the Father is to be in the presence of love, forgiveness and acceptance.
That’s all we really want and need and then when we receive other insights, revelation, answers, wisdom, knowledge and another bucket full of grace… it is just to load us up with wonder.
“If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” Jesus
