THE WHOLE PERSON III
Continuing from last two days Journal entries on the three-part person… the whole person from
1 Thessalonians 5:23: “Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.”
Paul, an apostle, reminded us: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit.”
(Hebrews 4:12) The whole person is affected by the whole word of God, written and spoken. It appears more than a casual idea to be as deeply involved with the Word as possible.
As Peter, an apostle, wrote in 2 Peter 1:19-20: “Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.”
The Whole Person pays close attention to the whole Word. The whole Word speaks to our whole body, soul and spirit.
“But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” Jesus
