CRACKING OUR WALLS
Through prayer and meditation our deepest natures are converted to God. We learn to hinder Him less and less, until His very nature is within us and His slightest wish is our command. At this conversion, His power, His grace and His love flow instinctively through us. It becomes a great mystery to our faith. The walls come down even if they come down in pieces. It is like seeing the Berlin Wall chipped away by both anger and joy. Either one can strike a cracking blow to the wall. We are no different. Each portion of our being is placed on an altar as sacrifice to the Lord and another stone of our wall is dislodged. The wall remains, but it is turned into discernment and decision and not just defense and danger. Love walls out fear. Fear walls out love.
Conversion is a process. It works deeper and deeper, like a seeping acid until it has altered our most secret places and our darkest depths. Every wall, every partition, every stone, every reinforcement is met with the wonderful force of love and turned into a wall of strength and security. What used to entrap us and wall us into ourselves has now been turned into a fortress to encompass the presence of God.
