ONE THING

I recently read this clever and true statement:

‘Addiction is giving up everything for one thing.
Recovery is giving up one thing for everything.’

That is well said and reminded me of the teachings of Jesus in the parables of Matthew 13:44-46:

““Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid. And with joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”

As these parables point out, finding Jesus and Kingdom is about One Thing: Giving up everything for the One Thing.
