FAVORITE SEASON
As Spring pops out everywhere we can see the promise of new life returning to all that has been dormant. As I marveled at this, as I do every Spring, I was reminded of a recent question: What is your favorite time of the year? My favorite time of the year is Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
It is really not a cop-out answer. I truly love the seasons because I have determined that our body, mind and soul need the same changes as all of the rest of nature since we too are natural. The Spirit follows the functions that house it and thus needs the seasons for normalcy. The natural seasons help form and re-make a spiritual person. It starts with Springtime in the soul.
Albert Camus (1913-1960) French philosopher and author wrote: “In the depths of winter, I learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
“Then God said, ‘Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years.’” (Genesis 1:14)
“When the sun is setting, you say, ‘We are going to have fine weather, because the sky is red.’ And early in the morning you say, ‘It is going to rain, because the sky is red and dark.’ You can predict the weather by looking at the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs concerning these times.” Jesus
