THE GOLDEN SPIKE
Another Scene that came to me in a dream …
I kept seeing The Golden Spike ceremony. This involved the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads meeting at Promontory Summit in Utah Territory in 1869. The Central Pacific started in Sacramento, California and went over the rugged Sierra Nevada mountains laying over 800 miles of tracks and the Union Pacific started in Omaha, Nebraska and laid about 1,000 miles of track across the prairie. The two rails came together at Promontory Summit with a big celebration and drove the final spike: The Golden Spike. The Golden Spike was a 17.6-karat gold final spike. (It was removed after the ceremony.)
I have been to this location in Utah and seen the actual site where this took place years ago. In my dream I could see this event clearly but also see that it was a metaphor of other things. To me it was a vivid reminder of how many things… though difficult and seemingly insurmountable and perhaps starting at completely different places and circumstances need concerted and engineered plans and hard work to meet in synchronized completion. I saw marriages, businesses, churches, parenting, and friendships, as well as political, economic, military, educational, social and cultural opposites that need to meet in the middle; have a party and drive a Golden Spike. The two should become one.
I then saw The Golden Spike becoming a popular symbol of reconciliation. Lastly, I saw pastries… especially cookies made to look like Golden Spikes to give others as reminders and a thank you. (I will be working on the cookies.) Pray for a Golden Spike.
