TO SEE GOD

Most of us have wanted to see God. This is nothing new… it goes way back to the Moses and the prophets and just about everybody in between. We want to see God. We will see him through Jesus. If we see Jesus what do we see? We see someone who is just like us and lives among us. But we also see someone who is just like the Father, as Jesus said, “if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.” He is someone who came to deal with sin, sickness, death and disease. He is someone who heals the sick, drives out demons, loves the poor, has compassion on the lost, has time for children, delivers those in religious performance, gives hope to the helpless, opens blind eyes and raises the dead. His pure heart is pure by bringing the desires and love of the Father to humanity. In his humanity he touches the human condition.

To assume that purity can come to us in any way but his way is to continue in self-centered works, religious legalism, pious nonsense and sentimental slop. Sadness over the discovery that we are sinful borders on idolatry. Jesus is pure. He makes us pure and acceptable. Now we can both see God. He rides a white horse has taken us out of the black hole.

He who has seen me has seen the Father; so how can you say, “Show us the Father?” Jesus
