BEESWAX
Bees make beeswax. People do not make beeswax. However, beeswax is not an aphorism or a colloquialism exclusively but a real life knowledge pivot. It is a coping mechanism.
If we hear or say, “Mind your own beeswax” we know exactly and completely what this means: Mind your own business. Beeswax just seems to be a nicer way to say it. We could say, ‘Keep out of it,’ or ‘Stick to your own knitting,’ or ‘Keep your nose out of it,’ or ‘Butt off.’
I think this is why ‘Mind your own beeswax’ is such a nice way to say ‘Mind your own business.’ There are certainly times when this reminder is necessary for all of us.
“I have spoken of these matters in figures of speech, but soon I will stop speaking figuratively and will tell you plainly all about the Father.” Jesus
