WHEN FAITH EVAPORATES
During the tough times when our faith starts to evaporate and the days are cloudy and chickens are not laying any eggs and the interest rates on saving and investing money go down and the interest rates on buying properties goes up or our waist size goes up… and even worse things could happen like having a transmission go out or having to change a diaper…or, having to floss our teeth. Yikes!
During times like this, I don’t think little clichés, pep talks, positive thinking techniques, and psycho-counsel chatter, fake happiness, mindfulness, or bits and pieces of Bible verses help much. Perhaps about the only thing that helps is to have some trusted person who can still see with eyes of faith to just sit and listen to us. Then again, who wants anyone around during times like this? I suppose some do and some don’t.
The for-sure way to cope might be to get to the other side of the Pond and have some Cuban Coffee and Waffles with Peanut Butter and Fake Maple Syrup, then soak out our stress and sadness as we evaporate. With any healing we might then cry out for mercy and get up and go on.
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Jesus
