FAITH AND EXPECTATION

Bruce Lee (1940-1973) martial arts, actor wrote:

“You will never get out of life anymore than you expect.”

As a guy said, “I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.” I think this is also certainly true of expectations. If we expect life to be a bummer it will most likely be fulfilled. Just so, if we expect to get the most and live a generous and meaningful life, it will also likely be fulfilled.

Paul, an apostle, wrote in the Book of Hebrews: “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” (11:1) The Bible adds a layer of depth and reality to expectation: faith. This simply means we are able to go beyond our wildest expectations and seemingly impossible odds and embrace life with our wildest faith. It might turn out better than expected.
