THE TWO GOSPELS

It seems that in modern times there has been a history of two distinct gospel messages. One is the standard 1-2-3, close your eyes because nobody is looking and raise your hand and you will be saved and if you die tonight you will go to heaven. I really hope this is true and works out that way.

The other gospel message is the one Jesus suggested: “Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” (Luke 9:2) If the Kingdom of God is present so is healing… of every kind… physical, emotional, soul, body, mind, habits and behaviors… That is the Kingdom. It will also include the new birth to be able to even see the Kingdom (John 3:3) and the same rebirth to enter the Kingdom (John 3:5). Once the Gospel of the Kingdom is ours we are saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, and walking in the light of a new powerful life.

“Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:14-15)
